James La-Conte McKnight, 71, of W. Monroe St., Salisbury, NC departed this earthly life on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Accordius of Salisbury.
He was born January 2, 1953, in Columbia, SC to the late Robert McKnight and the late Delores Hoskins McKnight.
James was 1971 graduate of Eastside High School. He continued his education and graduated from Kean College and the Computer Communications Institute. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Holy Church where he served as a Deacon and Coordinator of Rowan Helping Ministries Volunteers. James was the first Ordained Deacon at Highway Holiness Ministries in New Jersey. He was formerly employed with Livingstone College. James was a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
Services will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 300 S. Caldwell Street, Salisbury, NC 28144, Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 12:00PM with service to begin at 12:00 PM.
Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife, Cynthia McKnight of the home; one son, Matthew McKnight (Tosha) of Salisbury, NC; three daughters, Ingrid Lacy of Pennsylvania, Jamie McKnight and Jasmika Compton both of Salisbury, NC; five grandchildren; one brother, Donnell McKnight (Darlene) of Garfield, NJ; five god-children; two special nieces, Cassandra Allen and Chandra Harvey; in-laws, Bernice Castillo, Clinton Jackson, III and Douglas Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
